Dress for Success – story of fashion and empowerment

They say that FASHION is about more than clothing but it symbolize empowerment and confidence to face the world. Everyday, I wear different clothes and portrays a different role. I can be fierce, sweet, dainty and energetic or sometimes, i can just be a simple mom to my two kids.  Whatever clothes I wear defines who and what I am as a woman, employee, student, mother, wife, blogger and social media influencer.

“Clothes are powerful, you’re selling confidence because what you wear has the ability to tell a story about who you are.” These words are too powerful that can define you as a person and what you want to portray in life.   They say that your personality is often a strong indicator of what you wear and because our moods differs everyday, there are tendency that your fashion will vary on your daily moods.

Professor Karen J. Pine, of the University of Hertfordshire  (U.K.) writes in her very short book Mind What You Wear: The Psychology of Fashion “When we put on a piece of clothing we cannot help but adopt some of the characteristics associated with it, even if we are unaware of it.”

Finding the right clothes not just boost our confidence but give us life and meaning.  My clothes does not just affect my confidence level but also influences my day. I believe in FashionCare and most of all I don’t forget that confidence is the best of accessory in life, so I have to grasp every moment and live each day with gratitude and happiness.

Take a peek into my life and the different clothes I wear that defines who I am as a person.

I was once an ugly duckling, I have no idea on how to dress properly, fashion is never my thing in the past until one day when I decided to become a BLOGGER and social media influencer, my life change in a drastic but good way. I need to be versatile and  not just following the hottest trends in the net but I wanted to show my readers that despite our busy schedules and life, a mom like me can still be chic, fashionable and always ready to take the world at the tip of my hand.  As a blogger, you need to define your style.  It takes a lot of effort to balance your life as an employee, a mother and a wife and a social media influencer. I believe that there will always be crazy and lazy days but it doesn’t mean that you should stop taking care of yourself and look great not just on your outside but also on the inside. So, even If you wear your high heels or boots, color your nails blue or green and put on red or orange lipsticks, wear your best self.

One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.’ – Karl Lagerfeld

Live the life you wanted and do the things you enjoy doing.  That is one thing I have learned in my life. Helping our environment and creating awareness on healthy living is what I believe is a part of my role, my social responsibility. I find confidence on knowing that others believe in me and follow the advocacy i chose.

“Clothes aren’t going to change the world, the women who wear them will’ – Anne Klein

Through FASHION  and the clothes you are wearing, you are creating a big impact on promoting your advocacy.

green living advocacy, pink for life, red for children advocacy

Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express the way you dress and the way you live.’ – Gianni Versace

warriors in pink (a ford cancer advocacy)-   handmade jewelry, wood watch and organic shoes

And the best clothes I LOVE THE MOST is being a WIFE and MOTHER. Being with my family forgets all my worries and help me realize the things I am willing to sacrifice and willing to give up for the sake of their happiness. With them, i don’t need to wear my stylish dress or my stilettos but I can always wear my best PASSION, being a good mother and wife and share to my children my passion for fashion.

‘Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing.’ – Alexander Wang

The clothes we wear defines who we are  and each day we wear a different fashion, let us all remember to be a woman of substance and beauty and most of all with purpose, having that confidence to take on every challenge that comes our way will make our life worth living. Here’s a simple tip to boost your confidence through the way you dress 🙂

    • Dress for success, be comfortable on your body, embrace all your flaws and remove all insecurities.
    • Find the right color that compliments your own skin.  Get the right fit and cutting. Some people start from the basic colors like, black, grey, white. But you can go with bright colors and designs if you like.
    • Sunglasses, accessories are some of the things that can help boost your appearance. Get some quality pieces that goes along with your clothes.
    • Dress appropriately according to occasion.  It’s always nice to be unique but don’t forget that there are some appropriate clothes on different occasion which you needed to consider.
    • Find the clothes that will suit your personality and always go out from your house with a positive mind and most of all give your best on everything you do.
    • Be align with your fashion.  They say that what you wear represents your personality.  So, make sure you are sending your true intentions.

And now, i am ending my post by sharing you my favorite quotation from my favorite actress.

  • The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.’ – Audrey Hepburn

Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self.

    lots of love 🙂  melandria

Thinking out Loud – Turn back time

Honestly, I don’t feel I’m the blogger I used to be two or three years ago.  Today, my mind is already pre-occupied of other things.  Perhaps having two schooling kids add the demands of work and coping up with the studies of my daughter makes me less productive in terms of blogging. There are days, i wish i can turn back time like the Pro-Ject turntables but there are days also that I wish i can do much better and the glory will be back as it was before.

Before i used to earn money to help pays for bills inside the house but this time around, I can barely raise the amount i expected which makes me think twice if i still have to renew my other sites which I could not even posted for months.

I guess, i have to make a decision really quick of what I should do next. Would I still blog or would i seek for a new career since I’ve been thinking of going back to school again.

Journey of a Food Porn and Passionate Working Mom

I love to eat, maybe the same reason why I become as big as today. Although, I could not boast that I’m a great cook, i know that my cooking is far good than others I know , must be because I always believe that cooking is a passion. When you put your heart into something, it will turn out good. Not my creation is perfect but with constant practice they can become better and what matters most is that my family believes in me.

For a busy mom like me, it would be a precious chance to create a good food for my family after all it’s a mother’s desire to give the best for her family, to keep them healthy and happy all the time.

Morning would be perfect with my fave breakfast and a happy smile from my family. Although I have never tried to create a delicious breakfast such as this, i am always fascinated on learning especially because it’s our fave.

This is my first time to try to cook “fresh spring rolls” lumpiang sariwa. It turns good and the kids so love it. I am a passionate woman, i do believe that cooking is not just a mother’s job but if you put your heart on it, each meal even it’s simple will bring happiness.

Bicol is well known for it’s sili and hot and spicy foods. This one is my version of hot cheezy fingers which is really hot but very tempting.

A family that eats together, stays together.  Each province has something to be proud of. Ours is this delicious laing.

Who says hot and cold could not be paired together? I so love coffee, I could not live each day without drinking one.

Tasty Thoughts

Those who believe that bicolano food are hot can say that indeed some of them are too hot to eat but it’s delicious and those who tasted them could agree with me that there is something in their dishes that will want you to have more.  Each dishes differs but mind you, you don’t need to buy fire proof printed table throw to feel the tingly feeling while having them, the unique taste of each dishes can bring you wanting for water especially if your taste bud could not bear too hot foods.

But it doesn’t mean that since bicolano foods are hot and spicy, you will just be torturing yourself when eating one.  Some of them even with a certain degree of hotness is so tempting to taste and would definitely satisfy one palette.

You could start with a tasty thoughts and try them and you will definitely ask for more.

KakaoTalk makes party planning easier with new features

Planning to meet with friends can be challenging and frustrating, especially if you are constantly on the go and have different schedules. Especially since Philippines is like a maze filled with one-way streets and small alleyways to get lost in, describing a location to a friend can be especially difficult. KakaoTalk, the No.1 Social Networking App in the iOS App Store, offers a Location Sharing feature, which reduces the hassle of planning and coordinating with your friends, giving you accurate updates on their current location.

With only a few taps on your phone, KakaoTalk’s Location Sharing feature lets your friends know where you are, instead of typing out the complete address. You can also use the feature to share a certain location of choice. Tim Jang, director of Kakao Philippines, explains how this will simplify meeting with friends. “The location feature offers a seamless experience for users, by allowing them to share either their current location or a location of choice all within the KakaoTalk chatroom, without the inconvenience of switching between different applications.”

By swiping the chat window to the right, users will discover a newly added ‘Location’ button in the hidden menu bar. Choose between your current whereabouts or location of choice by search, depending on the situation. Then, by clicking the ‘Share Location’ bubble, this information will automatically be shared to your group of friends in the chat room. The feature takes advantage of the default map applications for the different operating systems:

Google Map for Android OS and Apple Maps for the iOS.

In addition to KakaoTalk’s latest Location Sharing feature, you can easily gather you and your friends for a date with the help of its scheduling feature. Schedule helps set reunions and meetings between your friends on KakaoTalk. “The scheduling feature goes hand in hand with the location sharing feature. PNR – Bicol Express Train

bicol PNR - Naga City Station

If your going to Camarines Sur,Naga City in particular, you have the option to choose to travel via land, air or by Bicol Express Train.

bicol express

Of the three, riding the train had the longest travel time but the most inexpensive.  Even if the airplane companies offers discounted fare, the insurance and other charges can sum up to more than Php. 1,000.00 ($25.00) and even up to Php. 2,000.00 ($50.00)*** if it was a peak season. By land, you can bring your own car or vehicle but you can consume at least a full tank.

The train departs at 6:30 P.M. and expected to arrive in it’s destination by 4:30 A.M. in the morning.   (Naga – Tutuban or Tutuban-Naga)

If security is your main concern on riding the Bicol Express, you don’t need to worry because  two police wearing a police t-shirt are roving and securing the safety of every one.

You have three options to choose on what you would like to sit/stay,  there were the reclining chair or what I called a bus type because it just look like you were riding on a bus.  The seats were divided by two big reclining chairs.  A wifi television will entertain you through the night until you doze in.

family sleeper

If you are travelling with your family, you can choose the family sleeper wherein you and your family can lie down during the entire journey.

There is also the executive sleeper if you are travelling alone and you wanted some privacy.  You can even choose to stay on the upper deck.  ( I wonder what it feels like to stay there)

These three options were all air conditioned and I tell you, you have to wear something that can make you warm because my body was chilling the entire trip even I was wearing a jacket and a socks. ( I told myself that I should have brought my mittens and a blanket.  I used my towel, to serve as a blanket for me)

It’s a way new experience if this is your first time to ride the Bicol Express Train .  I felt the excitement and thrill as soon as I  heard the sound of the horn indicating that our journey will start and a big bump (noise of the rail road).

Wash room/CR

Although, it is not my first time to ride a train because I used to ride the commuter train with my grandmother going to Alabang when I was a little bit young. The memories keep rushing through my head and makes me cry a bit.  I’m a little bit nostalgic and sentimental and in the same time ecstatic because it is my first time to ride the Bicol Express Train.

Canada- a place of many dreams

It’s been six months since my M-I-L went to Canada to be with her canadian boyfriend and we have heard so much good things about Canada.  How peaceful and beautiful it was.

Hubby and I decided that he would go to Canada and find work and hopefully by next year that will come into fruition. It would be a lonely journey for him and for the whole family but the benefits of having a good paying job could really help us pay our house dues and prepare for the schooling of the kids.

Although, there might be complications along the way, we know that Canada would be a great place for us and we hope in God’s will, this will come to be realized.

Fried rice with Shrimp paste

What better way to begin your day with a full stomach and sumptuous breakfast.  Here is my version of Fried rice with bagoong (sauteed shrimp) and egg on top, match them with tuyo and your breakfast is really something to make your day a nice one with a lovely smile in your face.

Ingredients:  (Preparation around 10  minutes)

garlic and onions (chopped)

sauteed shrimps paste  (bagoong)

2 pcs eggs

Saute garlic and onion until medium brown in small quantity of oil, put rice and add sauteed shrimps paste (bagoong) , cook until done.  Fry egg in oil and put on top of the rice.  Serve with tuyo or your favorite morning viand.

I have also tried this with small bits of ham and it complement the taste.

Life makes me Levytate!

When i think of how my life goes by, I could not help but to cry and smile.  I live a crazy life, melo-dramatic if i may call it. I was left by my mother when i was three months old and was reared by my grand mother. I thought that life was complete with just her but things become rough when she died and i was left alone with my father who was left by his second family.

Life with him is hard. There is weeks  that my life is in hell and i thought i’m going to be crazy. i could not count the times he hit me and i just want to die that time and i have tried not just one.  I thought of jumping on a high building or even in the river near by.  I have no one to call “my friend” because i’m unreasonable, emotional and not easy to be with. I’m just a person who lives inside my own box, i’ve tried to run and i did run and i thought it was over but it was not but it just worsen my problem and i have to go back rushing because i was afraid.

When the time i was in college i met my now then husband and i saw him as my exit to my life and my father could not forgive me for doing that but giving your heart is a new thing and it takes time to heal it’s wound. I have forgiven my father and i don’t want to look back because i don’t want to feel that pain and anger again.

I thought that having a baby was very easy, just like the other teenage mother around me but my belief was wrong. I have been through two pains of dealing with miscarriage and the loss of hope for having a child but came 2007 a year of bitter sweet memories, after coping with the loss of a love one and enjoying the happiness of our dream church marriage and come again another loss of my  father, a miracle unexpectedly struck our lives and in the middle of my grief, a new joy and new beginning came up in our door. When I found out I was pregnant, it was like a roller coaster of emotions.” I took a pregnancy test and break the news to my husband.  I was very nervous than anything, afraid of losing again my baby and thinking the finances that would come along the way. As the idea grew in me, I became more excited than ever. In my excitement I bring out again all my pregnancy books from the storage and started reading it all over again. It was very fulfilling.

our peachy

To tell you honestly, i really don’t know what should i feel then, it was quite a whirlwind events and I am in the end of the line and there is no turning back.  But soon, I realized that my life is only in the beginning of a new and wonderful journey called Motherhood.  When Peachy was born, all my anxiety was eventually faded. I have felt something  I haven’t felt before, suddenly, my life had its own meaning, my heart began beating again with happiness and my lips can’t help but smile.

We have named her Prosperity Melandria, because she is our little treasure that brings us joy and happiness.  When I first held her in my arms, all the miseries, all the pain melt away. This little angel wrapped in a blanket with its smiling face and tiny hands that immediately clasped my fingers gives me the reason to believe and levitate in so much happiness.

But that happiness was once relive when my baby boy came in to my life.  I felt fulfilled, the pain and loss i have suffered through the years are all gone and i have a more forgiving heart.

Now, when i think about the things that happened to me, I can jump as high as I could ” not on the river of course” , a jump of joy because i have overcome all the circumstances and trials and I’m now happy and satisfied with my own family.  Perseverance and patience is really a great deal, master them in your life and you can achieve whatever you wanted in your life and you can definitely say LIFE MAKES ME LEVYTATE!

life makes me levitate
